Manual Osteopathic treatment is primarily used as a pain relief alternative therapy for bones, muscles, joints, ligaments, tendons, visceral, and fasciae. The Osteopathic approach is a hand on manual therapy treating the body as one unit, to reverse the dysfunctional. Manual Osteopathy helps clients to restore the proper balance and function to allow the body heal through its own natural processes.
The initial session, client can expect to go over the health history with the manual osteopath therapist to discuss about what client needs are. An assessment will be done, which includes observation of posture and special tests to determine where treatment will be most indicated. With the remaining time, a treatment will be given. In subsequent appointments, there will be a quick assessment (in order to see what changes have occurred and again, to guide the process), and more time will be spent on treatment, which can take place with the sitting, lying face up, face down, or on the side position (female clients can wear sport bra on top and both male and female clients can wear short at the bottom).
Osteoarticular corrections:
Using Muscle Energy Techniques, mechanism for improving spinal Function, thoracic spinal dysfunction as well as cervical application, therapists apply gentle manipulation of joints which relieve restriction and restore proper motion.
Advanced myofascial Remodeling:
Freeing lines of tension and fascial* adhesions locally and systemically allow the body to regain optimal biomechanics and biochemical flow. The Anatomy, physiology, functions, and properties of fascia*. Treating the causes of facial lesion to restore the range of motion, and to correct posture with corrective exercise.
Cranial osteopathy:
Addresses the vitality and mobility of the Dural membranes and cerebrospinal fluid which nourish and protect the brain and spinal cord and influence nutrient exchange at a cellular level throughout the entire body.
Visceral manipulation:
Gentle but direct work to the organs and viscera and their ligamentous/ fascial attachments to relieve pain and improve function. And, A combination of MLD (Manual Lymphatic Drainage) technique.
Is manual osteopathy covered by my insurance plan?
Manual osteopathic treatment is covered by many group plans. Please check with yours to see what your coverage is, as individual plans vary. It is important to note that osteopathy is not a service that can be directly billed to insurance companies. You will be given an invoice with my billing numbers on it and you will need to submit this invoice and a doctor’s referral, if required. Again, please check with your insurance to receive the reimbursement for the cost.
